“Trust is a luxury most can’t afford. Betrayal is an act that can’t be ignored. Death may be the result of ignoring
the two”. Unrequited love involves having strong romantic feelings toward another person who does not feel the same way. It is a one-sided experience that can leave people with feelings of pain, grief, shame and death.
The artwork is a silence that echoes a scene and scenario of two lovers who have a misunderstanding and decided to meet up to settle their dispute as usual.
From the lady’s side, she felt all her attempts to make things work out was aborted with the man’s negligence.
The pressure family and society bring is too much on her. Apparently, she is head over heels in love with the man. “Iku ya j’esin lo” (death is faster than shame and reproach) was the proverb that solved the puzzle life threw at her.
She could not think of any other thing than to end it all. If life continues after death, they will continue their love affairs. What could have led to this life claiming abrupt decision? Maybe the guy cheated on her or he does not even take the relationship seriously and the lady has spent her last feeling on their relationship. Could it be that the lady found out that the guy has a wife and children somewhere else and felt she has been deceived and used far too long. could it be uncontrollable anger due to consistence misunderstanding… guess continues. Her facial look proves she did what she did for the benefit of the two party.
The man has no clue of the doom their outing will bring that It’s going to be their last meeting on earth. He brought her flower to communicate and re-affirm his love and emotion towards her and maybe to say “sorry”. But his attempt fell on her deaf ears. To the man, relationship cost a lot and friendship brings inevitable inconveniences.
She acted in emotion and unrestrained anger, before he could say jack, the flower petals fell, two bullet cases fell as well, cups of wine left untouched and expensive lady’s bag is useless to the dead. In the drop of silence,
her gaze echoes “We love when we meet again”.
